07-10_Emily_Headshot_cropEmily Sussman:

Math, Criminal Justice, Cooking, General Studies K-12 Teacher

Emily has been working with children for over 30 years.  Her passion for the education of the whole child began at the young age of 17. While working on her college degree, Emily taught at a nursery school in Scarsdale, NY for four years.  After becoming a mother, she dedicated herself to raising her children as a stay-at-home mother. During this time she taught many different levels of religious studies, had a day care out of her home and tutored the older children in her area.

Emily comes to us from Crossroads School in Brewster, NY where she had many different responsibilities such as teaching history, remedial math, and electives to middle school and high school students. She also worked with the preschool group and the elementary school assisting each child individually in their academics.

“I believe that when you educate a child, you want to draw out the passion to learn that is already inside of them, not stuff in information that is sterile and meaningless to their lives. It is so important to help them find their passion in life and guide them to be the best that they can be while incorporating an education along the way.”
