Admissions

If you feel as if Longview’s boarding program is right for you, please take time to read the following steps for admittance:

  • Complete and send in the application (click here)
  • Send the required school records (click here)
  • Send required recommendation forms (click here) (click here)
  • Participate in a preliminary conversation via Skype
  • Participate in a student interview via Skype

Application

Once you are ready to apply to Longview School, please print and fill out the application. This includes a short essay question (300 word minimum) that must be sent along with the application as a separate document.

School Records

As a part of the admission process, school records need to be sent by your previous school directly to Longview School. Please print out two School Records Request Forms, submit one to your previous school and be sure they send the records to Longview School. The other should be filled out, signed by you, and sent along with the application.

Recommendations

A minimum of two recommendation letters (1 academic and 1 personal) are required as a part of the application process. If the prospective student is currently (or has been in the past) under the care of a healthcare professional such as a psychiatrist or psychologist, an additional recommendation form is required from that healthcare professional.

Preliminary Skype Conversation

After the application is received, we will contact you to set up a Skype call between the prospective student’s parent(s)/guardian(s) and the director of the school.  Student participation in this conversation is optional.

Skype Interview

The last step is a Skype interview between the prospective student and members of the Longview community.  This interview will allow the prospective student to witness Longview’s democratic process first hand as both Longview students and staff will be involved in the interview (may not involve students for a summer application).
